Christa Gutzler
Christa M. Gutzler has always believed in the power of the written word and her passion for linguistic exploration drives everything that she is.
Currently studying writing, linguistics, and literature at Arcadia University outside Philadelphia, PA , she will receive her M.A. in English in the spring of 2010 and looks towards a PhD. in Linguistics in the coming years. Having studied Sociology and Criminology at Loyola College as an undergraduate, her writing and research interests continue to vary greatly from the individual to the collective and the moral fabric within which we co-exist.
Christa spent time in Rome, Italy in both 2003 and 2004 studying Italian culture, scripting and leading her own walking tours of the Roman Forum and attaining her CTEFL certification. Since returning to the Philadelphia area after her two stays in Italy, she has taught ESL at local colleges including St. Joseph's University, Harcum College, and Delaware County Community College. She continues to provide freelance multi-level ESL and TOEFL prep tutoring to some of her former students.
She was hired at Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, NJ as a part-time test developer, writing and editing for the TOEIC department (Testing of English for International Communication) after being selected for a coveted intern position in the summer of 2007 from a pool of more than 150 international applicants.
Christa has been writing for Maria Liberati's The Art of Living, primamedia, Inc., an electronic magazine, first as an intern and since then as a freelance writer, contributor, and editor, since the spring of 2009. Her articles have appeared on websites like www.gomestic.com, www.trifter.com, and www.healthmad.com. In addition to her work for Liberati, she has written for some of their clients including Outdora and Car Connection. Christa's other articles have been published on www.ezinearticle.com, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation website, and in the "Tower," Arcadia University's student newspaper.
She is presently employed by the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Psychiatry in the Center for Weight and Eating Disorders, as physical health and psychological wellness are other avid interests of Christa M. Gutzler.
